I took Tiger Airways from Chennai - Singapore and return, it costed me Rs 12500(two-way);not very cheap, I booked 50 days in advance. The check-in at both places was smooth, cabin crew was OK. Food/beverage choices has limited vegetarian(they should increase it).
In Singapore they made us stand for 25 mins near the boarding gate(flight was delayed by 1.45 hrs!), the seat pitch on some seats was very poor(I came on row 11, please avoid! since it didnt recline as well, next row was the emergency exit, while row 10 does recline, so do you get the double wammy!)rest was fine. I brought a 40 inch LCD from Singapore(paid the duty offcourse!); Tiger checked in without problems and the LCD came out OK.
Problem is that crew is singaporean, you need to have a Tamil crew because the crowd is mostly labour class and do not understand English. Hence you could see people wanting to take a leak when the plane is about to land.
Given the price and the fact that its a 4 hour flight, I would recommend it for students, single travellers and not for senior citizens and people with small children. Go ahead and save the Rs 4500 per ticket and use it for shopping at Spore or for paying duty on electronics when you land in India!
