I strode into a custom shoppe in Pune and I saw this TIGI product(TIGI Bed head Ego boost Split end mender and leave in conditioner). The product was in a bright pink bottle with a bright green cap and that colorfulness + brand name caught my attention. I used to look at the TIGI products from the TIGI website and the bottle colors really catch my attention.
They look trendy, young, naughty and I always wanted to buy one. I did not find them anywhere in India and so when I saw this one at the custom shop, I just had to have one. I took a look at the pricing. It was 1100 Rs!!! That really made my heart miss some beats.
After a long thought process in the shop and some cajoling from the sales person who kept saying that the price of the product is high because the product is that good!!, I like a bloke fell for the crap and out came my credit card and I bought one..
I then became a proud owner of a TIGI product!! and I just couldnt wait to get back home and try it on. The instructions on the product said that it can be applied on wet hair and dry hair. So I tried it on dry hair immediately and combed through.
The slimy white solution did not spread easily. But wherever it spread on my hair, I found that my hair became smoother, But!, it was only till the product dried. Once the product had dried, my hair felt like straw. Going by the name, that it was a split end mender, I applied some on my ends. There was a difference! which is, my hair that was normal earlier felt like straw and needless to say my split ends still existed... I thought that I would get better result with wet hair. So the next day, I tried it on immediately after a bath, when my hair was still wet. At the end, the results were the same.
There is still more than 3/4 of the bottle left and I bought it a month ago.
I feel guilty that I paid so much for this. This is the most expensive conditioner/leave in that I have ever come across(1100Rs for 200ml). I think that sometime down the line, this will end up with my maids daughter(If she would accept it and likes it effect on her hair). It was only after I bought the product, and I surfed on the net for reviews, I found that many people have not liked this product.. Darn! If only I have looked up the net first and then gone back later to buy the product if the reviews were good, I would not have wasted my money. I hope this lesson has taught me not to buy anything out of impulse, which is a weakpoint for many women.
One piece of advice for all women who have split ends.. Please proceed with caution before buying products claiming to repair split ends(especially if they are ridiculously expensive). You can definitely avoid split ends from appearing by conditioning and oiling your ends regularly. But, once split ends appear in your hair, the only cure is to cut the split ends off!!. There is no magic potion for this!
