I’ve been using TIGI Bed Head conditioners for a while now, and these are truly one of my favorite conditioners. The first thing that drew me to this product was the name Bed Head, which I think sounds adorable. The packaging is very attractive too. But the only reason I continue to use this product is not it’s catchy name or alluring bottle, but the effect it has on my hair.
TIGI products are easily available in most custom shops in Bombay, like Alfa and Beauty Center. A 250 ml bottle usually costs between Rs 500-600, which I suggest you start with. If you like the effect it has on your hair, the 1000 ml bottle is more economically viable, at about Rs 1400.
The Bed Head conditioner has different variants, which you can choose according to your hair type. My favorite is the Self Absorbed Mega Vitamin Conditioner. This conditioner is a beautiful peach color and smells very fruity. It works best when you work it into damp hair and leave it on for about 5 minutes before thoroughly rinsing it out. You’ll feel the difference instantly. It gives hair more gloss, more bounce, and the smell will make you want to eat your own hair (yes that sounds disgusting, but I mean it in a good way :).
Other conditioners I’ve tried from the Bed Head range have been equally good. In the Bombay monsoon, even my straight hair tends to get frizzy and tangled, thanks to the humidity. That’s a good time to use TIGI Bed Head Moisture Maniac Conditioner. This conditioner instantly detangle hair making it so much more manageable, it also tackles the frizz pretty well and leaves hair smooth and silky, and smelling fruitilicious.
And if you have wavy hair that you wish was just a wee bit straighter, use TIGI Bed Head Control Freak Conditioner. While this is particularly suited to tame frizzy hair, it also has a slight straightening effect - don’t expect it to iron out your curls though! Although my hair is straight, I’ve used it once when the alternatives weren’t available. And I’ve got to confess, the effect and the yummy pineapply smell make me want to use it again.
The thing I like most is that TIGI products are not tested on animals. This is a huge draw for an animal lover. I really wouldn’t want to be walking around with gorgeous hair knowing some little creature in a laboratory cage has been tortured just so I could have nicer hair. They also add a lot of natural ingrediants and vitamins to the products, which really makes your hair look and feel healthier. And your hair will smell delcious all day!
Be realistic, conditioners can’t make existing split-ends disappear, no matter what any product may claim. A good conditioner will prevent more split-ends, have a detangling effect, improve the texture of your hair and make it glossier. If you have a split-end problem, the only way to tackle it is with regular trims by a good hair stylist. Going to inexpensive places that use blunt, old scissors is doing your hair more harm than good. So for a beautiful head of hair, you’ve got to be willing to invest in a good haircut and good products.
I’m not saying TIGI Bed Head Conditioners will do miracles or even suit all types of hair. But it does work for me and for a lot of people I know. So next time you’re feeling a little generous toward your hair, pick up a TIGI Bed Head conditioner and experience the difference. And remember, whichever conditioner you use, always apply it only to the hair that falls from your nape to the ends. Never apply conditioner to your scalp! And if you’re the kind of person who just shampoos and runs, don’t do that! Your hair needs the additional nourishment and protection that only a conditioner can give it!
