''Travelling in Time''

I read this novel while I was in school, almost 7 years ago. Although I dont remember the name of the characters, but the story is still fresh in my mind.

A professor of theorotical physics invites few of his close inmates for a dinner party. After the party he explains to them his idea of travelling ’into time’. The explanation that he gives is logical and just marvellous. He even shows them a miniature prototype model of his idea. But all his friends just laughed and called him a dreamer. But he was determined to prove himself right. He invites his friends again on a lunch exactly after a week.

As soon as his friends leave him he sets out on his journey into space and time. He reaches a place somewhere around Thames river in London but far ahead in ’history’.....some thousand years ahead!!. Here he finds himself in a strange world where people are cute and innocent and think of him as god.

He sets out to explore this new world and discovers many strange things. Here he comes across Weena, (i dont know how I remember her name!!), whom he saves her from drowning. She becomes his good friend till her death at the hands of the creatures living underground....who fear nothing but fire and eat the young and innocent people on earth. He discovers many more surprising things, hard to describe here.

After Weena’s death he leaves the place and travels farther into the future upto a point when sun is about to set for the last time. He finally returns back to his place after a week and finds his friends already waiting for him unoblivion of his historic trip. After lunch when he explains his whereabout and the journey they again started calling him a dreamer. But he astounds them when he presents a gynoecium, a flower, to his botanist friend, that was put in his pocket by Weena!.
