If you are looking for a newspaper/portal I suggest you go for Indian Express/NDTV. Times of India (TOI) and indiatimes.com is strictly for entertainment purposes only. Yes, it does contain serious ’’news’’ however, one look at their coverage and you would think that they have sidelined real issues and given priority to films/fashion and some big shots (especially people like Vijay Mallya, the Ambanis, Aish/Salman etc.)
The primary reason behind its success is, it provides masala news at cheap prices which people can only find in expensive glossy magazines. it also has a lot of promotional offers-ads, gorgeous (read. exposing) females and useless general information. They can never prove that they have actually concentrated on journalism, I would prefer reading Indian Express or sites like ndtv/rediff since they are more credible. the more the money and contacts you have the more the propaganda, TOI and its affiliates have proven this time and again. If I wanted to know what Mr. Mallya is eating today or if Brad Bitt and Jeniffer Aniston are having a baby I would go for a stupid Stardust rather than buying 16 pages of crap.
