I purchased a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens from Timtara.com on 20th Nov at around 10 PM. The retail price of the lens in the market is Rs.6099, however on ebay and other e-commerce websites, buyers can buy this product from Rs.5600 upwards. I got this product on Timtara.com for less that Rs.4700(1k, discount for purchase above 5K made it possible) which is the cheapest in the market.
I was a little worried reading all the bad reviews on mouthshut hence I ended up calling the customer service. Now, I must say that the customer service is a little sloppy and is not of much help. I was assured that I will receive the product within 10 working days of the purchase.
I got a mail today that my product is shipped. While is was going through the mail, I received a call from my office mail room that there is a package waiting for me. I was surprised as I was not expected the package today. I went to the mail room and there was my package lying on the desk(Delivered by Bluedart). While I was signing for the document, I was surprised to see that the package was mailed by JJ Mehta(Now, that is a reputed name when it come to purchasing Camera and lenses). I think Timtara.com has tie-up with such players as they would not want to stock the products in their warehouse.
I inspected the box well, there was no sigh of any damage. Opened the packing which was water proof and lens box was well secured in a bigger box. I got the lens without any damage. I am very please with the overall experience(Minus Customer Care) . I received my product in 6 working days and almost 1000 cheaper from the market. Now knowing the fact the Camera & Optics related stuff comes from JJ Mehta, couldn’t have asked fore more. I will defiantly use this website again.
