Every time my children used to get **Home Work, ** I used to raise my eyebrows. And then the two accompanied questions used to be: **Why?** and **What For?**. Educational theories and tested educational principles are against the heavy school bag and **Home Work** for the child after the school hours. If I do ** Home Work** with my child, he or she would soon develop a tendency to be spoon fed and a dependency syndrome would enter his psyche, which is quite harmful for the child. Only those teachers, who are incapable of teaching well or are not able to finish the teaching in time, insist upon **Home Work.** My children used to study in an American School in Indonesia. They were discouraged to do **Home Work** at home, and we the parents were advised to see that we dont interfere with the childs home assignments. The children in that School used to do their **Home Work** during school hours. Thus, they were coming home with no anxiety or stress whatsoever. Even when they were boarders and coming home during weekends, they were not coming with any **Home Work.** A lot of swimming, playing, boating and other activities used to keep them busy during the weekends. On Monday early morning, they used to go to School fully refreshed with no anxiety of any kind. Even in the Schools in England, the children do their **Home Work** during the school hours under supervision of different teachers. OK? Now, when **Home Work** is should be discouraged, why not coin a different name for it?Assignments is fine.Tasks sound negative. At least thats how I feel.Assignmentis a suitable word. And I close this Review with an earnest appeal to teachers and parents, and Parent-Teachers Association all over the world to see that the phrase **Home Work** is deleted from educational literature.
