Easy cooking for bachelors

I had requested MS to add a new category ’’EASY COOKING FOR BACHELORS’’ in which I could write this but I dont know why they refused so am writting in this category as I was requested by my MS friends to do so the key points being ---Ease of preparation, uncomplicated ingredients and reasonably healthy end results.


INSTANT RAVA DHOKLA


--------------------


1 cup rava


1 cup curd


1/2 teaspoon salt


1/2 teaspoon eno fruit salt


1 tablespoon oil


3-4 pinches red chilli powder


1 tablespoon coriander finely chopped


Method-


Mix rava, salt and curd in a vessel.Add 2 tablespoon of hot water, beat well with a wooden spoon or ordinary spoon will do.Take hot water in 1 tablespoon and in it pour the eno fruit salt and then immediately mix it in the batter and then add oil and mix it very well.Take a large vessel with 3 inches of water.In it place a stand which goes above the water level.Take a thali and greese it and then pour the batter in it and sprinkle it with red chilli powder and chopped coriander and allow it to steam.To check whether its done put your knife in the batter if it comes out clear means its done.Have it with green chutney.


Variation-


In the batter you can add boiled mixed vegetables of your choice and make VEGETABLE RAVA DHOKLA


BREAD ROLLS


------------


3 potatoes boiled and mashed


4 finely chopped green chillies


1-2 tablespoon chopped coriander


juice of 1 lime


salt to taste


8 slices of bread


oil for frying


Method-


Mix potatoes, green chillies, coriander, lime juice and salt to taste.Wet a slice of bread by dipping in water.Squeeze out excess water.Place a little of potato mixture in the middle of the bread.Fold over.Shape it into a roll or like a ball.Do it with the remaining slices.Then deep fry them and have it with tomato ketchup.


Variation-


In the boiled potatoes you can add boiled mixed vegetables or instead of potatoes you can use cheese or paneer to make the roll.


BREAD PIZZAS


--------------


1/2 cup baked beans(tinned one)


1 tablespoon tomato sauce


1 teaspoon chilli garlic sauce


1 onion finely chopped


1 capsicum finely chopped


salt to taste


6 slices of bread


butter


1/2-1 cup grated mozarrella or processed cheese


sliced onion, capsicum and olives(optional)


Method-


Heat 1/2 tablespoon of butter in a non-stick pan.Add chopped onions, capsicum and stirfry 2 mins.Add baked beans, tomato sauce, chilli sauce and salt and mix well.Butter the bread slices.On a baking tray put the buttered side facing down and on each slices spread the mixture of baked beans.Top it with sliced onions, capsicum and olives.Sprinkle cheese on top.Preheat oven to 250C, place tray in oven.Bake till cheese melts and bread is crisp.Serve hot.


If you dont have am oven you can put the pizzas on tava and then cover it and let it cook.


CHINESE STYLE POTATO VEGETABLE

4 large boiled potatoes


1 teaspoon chopped garlic


1/2 teaspoon chopped ginger


1 teaspoon chopped green chillies


1 teaspoon tomato ketchup


2 tablespoon soya sauce


1/2 teaspoon chilli sauce


2 teaspoon cornflour


4 tablespoon oil


salt to taste


Method--


Cut the potatoes into fingers.Heat the oil in a frying pan on a high flame.Add the potato fingers and cook for few mins.Remove from the pan and keep it aside.In the same oil add garlic, ginger and green chillies and stir fry for a few seconds.Add the potato fingers, tomato ketchup, soya sauce, chilli sauce and salt.Mix the cornflour in 1/2 teacup of water.Add to the potatoes and cook for 1 or 2 mins.


MOONGDAL KHICHADI


-------------------


1 cup green moong dal split with skin


1 cup rice


1 inch ginger


2-3 green chillies


1/2 teaspoon garlic paste


1-2 bay leaf(tej patta)


1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds


1 stick cinnamom


2-3 cloves


1 pinch asafoetida


2 tablespoon ghee


salt to taste.


Method-


Wash and drain the moong dal and rice.Peel and cut ginger into long strips.Wash and slit the green chillies.Take a pressure pan or pressure cooker.Heat ghee in it.Then add asafoetida, green chillies, cumin seeds, ginger, bay leaves, cinnamom, cloves and garlic paste.Fry for 2 mins.Add the moong dal and rice and sufficient water and salt.Close the lid and pressure cook it.
