Perfect in an Imperfect World ?

What is a ** Perfect CV ?** Is there anything perfect in a world, which itself is imperfect ? Full of inequalities, chaos and uncertainties. A Physicist may say that from these uncertainties emerge the Uncertainty Principle. I think ’Good’ is a better term, and let us use it in our analysis. So, we shall discuss on ** Writing a Good CV. *

* CV ** is a French phrase, meaning ** Curriculum Vitae. ** It is also called * Bio-data * or * Resume. * Whatever it is, it is used as a Communication Tool to establish communication between the employer and the prospective employee. It is the first point of contact between the two.

A * Resume * is also necessary to introduce you, if you are going to address a gathering or you are going to broadcast in Radio or TV. Sometimes in Rotary and Lions Club meetings your * Resume * is necessary to introduce you if you are the speaker.

A good ** CV ** shouild be a structured document. It should show your name, date of birth, address, telephone and fax numbers, mobile and pager numbers, if applicable, qualifications, training in India and abroad, experience, publications, foreign travel, hobbies and other past times. Never indicate your salary in your **CV **. Your present salary and expected salary could be discussed in the interview, when your employer is

reasonably certain that he is going to hire you.

Your ** CV** should be printed in good paper, and the important points should be highlighted. Do not make it too long, because the busy employers or their personnel executives do not have time to go through it. But, I personally feel that they should go through it carefully, because it is their duty to assess your worth.

When you are sending your ** CV ** either by post or by courier, put it in a good envelope, and type neatly the employer’s address. If it is to go to a Foreign Employer, send it in a good airmail envelope. These days many employers, both in India and abroad, prefer to have your ** CV ** through e-mail.

Your ** CV ** is to be accompanied by a * Covering Letter. * Make it equally impressive.

If you get the interview letter , acknowledge its receipt promptly, and expect the interview. Hope, you will do well in the interview, if you prepare well. Untill then Best of Luck !
