Hai, Friends, Tulsi is Ocimum tenuiflorum, also known as Ocimum sanctum, holy basil, or tulasi or tulsi(also sometimes spelled thulasi), is an aromatic plant in the family Lamiaceae which is native to the Indian subcontinent and widespread as a cultivated plant throughout the Southeast Asian tropics. It is an erect, many-branched subshrub, 30–60 cm(12–24 in) tall with hairy stems and simple phyllotaxic green or purple leaves that are strongly scented.Many Hindus have tulsi plants growing in front of or near their home, often in special pots or a special masonry structure known as Tulsi Vrindavan. Traditionally, Tulsi is planted in the center of the central courtyard of Hindu houses.The plant is cultivated for religious and medicinal purposes, and for its essential oil.In Hindu mythology, Tulsi is known as Vaishnavi.The Tulsi with green leaves is called Shri-Tulsi also Shri is a synonym for Lakshmi, the principal consort of Vishnu. This variety is also known as Rama-Tulsi, The Tulsi with dark green or purple leaves and purple stem is called Shyama-Tulsi or Krishna-Tulsi’, Krishna is also a prominent avatar of Vishnu. Only a male must cut them and only in the daylight. A prayer of forgiveness may also be offered to Tulsi before the act.Water mixed with the Tulsi leaves is given to the dying to raise their departing souls to heaven.It mainly use to cure cough, cold and every type of fever, according the suggestion of aurvedacharya, we must eat to leaves with empty stomach, for maintaining good health
