Teachers Thuje Salam

Today being Teacher’s day I wanted to pay tribute to the Teachers by writing about them. My sincere apologies to MS & my dear readers ( Reviewers!!!) for selecting a wrong title for I could not find any appropriate Category to write on “Teachers”

The first thought goes to my Physics Teacher who would go into minutest of  details and would ensure that each of us understand what he taught and at the end of the class he would say “ Whatever I have know about this topic, I have taught you. I know nothing more and you know nothing less, So you should be in a position to answer all the questions related to this topic for which I know the answers. I still remember & laugh at it today considering that we were then so delighted to feel equal to him at the end of each class.

Then there was my Math teacher  who called us for a special class on a day in which India was playing a semi-final one day international cricket match. He used to teach so well that we did not have the mind to bunk his class and hence we had planned to bring transistor radio & take turns to go out to update ourselves with the score. He put us into shame by bringing a Radio into the class room and told us that all of us would listen to the commentary once in half an hour for 5 minutes  stating that he too was mad about cricket but careers of Children are more important than the game. I salute the man today.

We had a pretty looking Lady teacher fresh from college and all of us tried our best to impress her with our knowledge. One day she had advanced her classes as the earlier period was free. One of the boys who came to attend only her class had the guts to tell her that he was disappointed that the teacher had advanced the classes and finished it early as he had come all the way to attend her class impressively dressed as otherwise he used to wear faded jeans & soiled shirts. She immediately apologized to him stating that she would take this class separately only for him and also that he should sit in the first row in future in her classes (as he was usually a back bencher) and she wants to look at him while she taught. Believe me, he was so ashamed and the boy who was getting marks in the region of sixties transformed himself to finish in Top five in the class. Don’t you agree with me that beauty with brains always create miracles.

An interesting Chemistry teacher of mine had the habit of asking questions immediately after finishing one topic in order to ensure how attentive we were. For those who answered the questions correctly he would give us 1 or 2 marks and said that he would add all these marks to our terminal exams. At the end of each exam our marks used to increase by 10 or 15 due to additions. But by doing this did he not make sure that the entire class was listening to him attentively

I can go on writing but the moral of the story is “ Different folks different strokes”, each had their own way of handling the children. Whatever, we are today in the Society is because of our Teachers who molded us into perfection. While many of us have progressed in different walks of life, they relentlessly continue their teaching profession day after day, preparing more & more children to face the world. So is it not our duty to thank our Teachers today and say "Thuje Salam”
