India has a censor board which controls the release of any film in India. It is the famous name for central board of film certification. It has all the rights to grant a certificate to a movie on the basis of movie’s nature. It is consisted of four categories i.e. A, U, A/U & S. ’A’ is restricted to Adult, ’U’ is unrestricted and it is open for all kind of audience, ’A/U’ has some restrictions ( children below 12 years need parental guidelines) . And ’S’ is for special audiences like doctors, scientists etc. Now a days due to trend of showing nude scenes or vulgar scenes or offensive scenes, it has become very difficult to certify a film. Sometimes due to some kissing scenes or other offensive scenes, a film is given A certificate but then rivals start for it because producers or directors do not agree to this decision. There’s always been highs and lows in this regard.
Censor board has also all the rights to ban a movie from its release. PADMAVATI is recent example. Due to its uniqueness and rigidity Indian censor board is known as the most strict censor board of the world. I too believe in censor board India. I wish its present rules and regulations not to be changed at any cost in near future.
