Each writer have a different view on what is ‘good’ content - but readers tend to also. I might think my writing is good , but you may think its useless and time wasting when you dont like that .
I write whenever I find time - it may be a blog , review or a piece of trash . You know when you write , you’re using both sides of your brain, and are accessing your unconscious mind as well. So its always you will achieve something in Writing .
What is Good Content Writing ?
If you ask me I will say its a subjective exercise , just like keeping your body fit. Good writing attracts visitors and one should always keep in mind that content writing is not everyone’s cup of tea.
I give you some tips which I know , probably who may add in your points too.
1) Write your First Draft : Prepare your first Draft. Iam a flash designer , I will always prepare my first draft/story board for myself before starting my project . Your first draft is like a laying track . Just write --- think on the page, or on the screen, NOT in your head. Thinking too much while you write is treacherous, because you can spend two hours "writing" and end up with half a page of work.
2) Passion of Writing : You should be passionate about writing as t here is nothing worse than reading a dull and mundane review . This means if you aren’t interested in writing then please don’t write. As it will only provide the crap or waste. In one of my reviews , a reader commented that he felt sleepy on reading it. and I have corrected my mistake in my further reviews .
3) Simple and Precise : While writing just ask a question to yourself that does your article make sense? Also keep a check that you’re not using complex and arcane terms. Always keep this in mind that every visitor is not literate and also not well-versed in English . Thus, try to keep your writing simple , flowing, crisp and short. The reason is that long and verbose article will certainly lose reader’s attention.
Don’t use words you don’t really know, stick to words you know . It’s nice to use impressive words from time to time, but if you use it incorrectly, everyone who does know what the word means will think of you as a pathetic, insecure dork. Pay attention to Grammer . You can write without using proper grammer , but you should know the more grammar you know, the better you can write
4) Look and Feel : Design your writing . if you are a web designer , I dont need to tell this to you . It will bring the readers to your desk . Grow your writing with lists. Listing is a form of brainstorming. It’s an excellent technique to use which helps you in the revision process, to add texture to your work. It grows your writing, and it’s fun .
6) Practice : Make writing the FIRST thing you do each day. If you write at least page, by hand, as soon as you get up, you’ll find that writing comes more easily to you for the rest of the day. You’re also more focused and relaxed for the rest of the day. Dont edit while you write. Writing comes first, then editing. If you try to combine the two, you will block. Dont worry if it had not come good initially , nothing in this world comes right at the first time .
Speak what you write . Writing should come as easily to you as chatting to a friend. If you don’t have trouble talking, how can you have trouble writing?
7) Focus : You have to know the purpose of writing . Mind you content writing is done with a specified purpose. Means if you’re trying to advice on a product, then it should reach . Thus, focus to the writing becomes more important. . Suppose if you are writing a review for ’ Rang de basanti ’ , you tempt to write something about ’Fanaa ’ which you have to avoid.
Try to choose a fancy topic as well because most of the readers will see the topic first and then your writing.
8) Set Goals : The common mistake most of the writers makes is to do all hard work without any goal. Set goals for your writing --- the best goals are always unrealistic.
I’m a great believer in WRITING TO ACHIEVE GOALS. You never achieve it exactly as you envisioned it - you achieve something even better, something you could never have imagined. At the end , you achieve your goal which makes you satisfied and you will be encouraged to do more writing.
9) Truthful Writing : Writing truthfully can feel like undressing in public, so many beginners worry about sharing their writing. Be compassionate. Firstly, to yourself. Write. Write for yourself. All writing takes courage. When you finally show your writing to others, you discover that you have done an amazing work.
10 ) Unique Style : Last but not the least is that write in your own style. Content writing should be done in your own style as it engages the reader and grabs their interest. Preferably write as if you are in conversation with your readers. Hence, every successful content writer should know when to quit and begin writing. This is how your review will stand out.
