I am writing this, away from my usual flippant style, as I am upset with the bias of Convent/Jesuit schools. This is my personal experience, and I am not encouraging anyone to make ANY decision. I would appreciate it if you would rate this review and also post your comments.
This is something that is not known by the majority of people out there... I will enlighten you, on what is happening in the Catholic church in this day and age.
I am a Born-again Christian..i.e. a Bible believing Christian, previously a Roman Catholic who has left the Catholic church, about 5 years ago. We dont go to the Catholic church, or follow the Pope in Rome. We follow Jesus in the Bible. We have no quarrel with the RC church, only appreciate the good work they do in various fields.
Now it is people like us whose kids do not get admission in the RC schools. We approached 3 schools in our area, and were refused admission, saying as you have left the Catholic church, we cant give your kids admission. And the priests and nuns were not gentle about this--they were downright rude.(I am not mentioning the school names or area, as this is experienced by many believers (us) all over India. They dont even allow us to bury the dead in their cemetary, if we have a family grave, so we have to bury in the Govt cemetary.
In Wadala, a parent brought in the home minister for education to meet the principal, after she was refused admission for her child, and the principal gave the same excuse to the minister!! They say we will take Hindus, Muslims, Parsees etc, but not you (us).
As I was upset , I tried to get Mr Abraham Mathai of the minorities commission to step in and do something--but nothing came of it.. I am not against anyone, but want the Convent schools to be fair and give basic education rights to anyone and everyone.
This reminds me of the discrimination between the whites and blacks in the US or the nazis and jews--but this was long ago, and today when we have so many forums to aid the world--we have PETA which cares about animals, various ngos who care for infants/sex workers, etc etc, but this glaring misdeed of the Roman catholic church is overlooked.
Now that I have posted this I am no longer upset.. By the way my 3 kids got admission in a Born again school, in our area.
