~* Of the Logic, the Tragic, and the Black Magic*~

One fine day on the most romanchak(yep, even the Romans would go crazy with it) show on Sony(aaja mahi ve) Entertainment(hahaha, can’t argue with that) Television – Indian Idol, 2…

Aman Verma: Nay-

Mini Mathur: Naye saal ki shubh kamnaayein!

Aman: Hum aap…

Mini: Main, I mean hum aap sabh ko Indian Idol 2 mein swaagat karte hai!

Aman: Min-

Mini: So aaj mere, I mean hamaare Gala rounds ki aakhri show hai. Ab tak ka safar ke baarein mein kyaa khayaal hai Aman?

Aman: Mujhe lag-

Mini: Haan bilkul, I agree completely. And now let’s have a huge round of applause for our judges…

Aman: MINI, WILL YOU LET ME SPEAK?!

Mini: Main bas aapko jald se jald yeh surprise dena chahti thi ki aaj hamaare saath ek bahut hi special guest hai…jo host hamaare saath host banne waali hai. Meet my twin sister Mina!(whispers)Yaani ki ab aapko bolna ka mauka hi nahi milega.:D

Aman screams the most ear-drum-breaking scream in the history of Indian television screams. A strangely well-choreographed sequence follows, in which he falls to his knees and starts hyper-ventilating in time to the “suspense” heart-beat music which always plays in such shock-horror times on television.

Now before you all start thinking “Ashi’s left her brains behind with 2005” and scroll down the page to give me a NU rating, wait. Remember: the mangoes and strawberries of patience are always sweet…

The above scenario(however fictional) shows a way in which anger can take control of you, and affect your health, career and life in general. It is probably one of the worst emotions as fills every part of your mind and leave no room to think about everything else. Anger is often served as accompaniment to greed, jealously or just plain sadness(* ok…I’m making it sound like wine). Being an anger-holic is not a good trait, and you should definitely take measures to control your anger as soon as possible! I’m Aries and I’m roti-off-the-tavaa-tempered. But you can’t always blame the stars and planets for the way you act(“Oh yeah, I slapped you the other day because Saturn was aligned with my constellation and that sent out cosmic rays which mentally affected me” *).

X…Why?.Z

Ever wondered why you’re angry? It’s a natural emotion, and all humans experience it…some more often than others. It’s hard to think when there’s the flame of anger burning up everything in your mind and all you can think about are ways to kill the person you are angry with. But once you understand your anger, you should realise not to do anything rash(like make threatening phone calls *)…as it most probably will ruin things for when you’re in your senses(and make the headlines for the next few months). Always think before you act!( unless you just landed yourself a role in Kkekta’s latest serial, then you wouldn’t need to think to act*)

Breathe in, breathe out

Instead of thinking about things, just don’t think at all. In other words clear you mind of everything and just concentrate on your breathing…Breathe deeply and feel all your worries drift away. Then let nice thoughts fill your mind – blue sands, golden seas. And then let the un-bizarrified nice thoughts fill your mind – golden sands, blue seas…

Take a Break from the Situation

Do a Cinderella and run away from the ball/ kitchen/ room wherever you happen to be when you feel the ghost of anger possessing you. It may be that you just want to leave the person behind, or the whole atmosphere of the situation. So go for a walk(* unless you really did do a Cinderella and left your shoe behind *).

Do you know what Kkusum did when she found out that her daughter was pregnant before marriage? I’ll tell you: whilst crying hysterically her arms starting spinning around like a windmill and she started slapping the poor girl left and right. Maybe if she had left the room, gone for a walk, thought about the situation and that her daughter was going to get married to the father of the child anyway, then it would have been a better day. But why am I trying to find logic in Kkusum(* I can’t even make any sense out of the double K in the name*)?

Move

Convert that anger into physical activity. But don’t use that energy on the person or thing you’re angry with! Violence is not the answer, and that involves shouting and screaming insults. Also, please refrain from making voodoo dolls or conducting any form of kaala jaadu that you happen to know. Make the physical activity constructive instead of destructive. So exercise! Running, cycling, swimming, whatever you like to do, and whatever is the most easiest to do. Or you could just stomp up and down the stairs a few times. People watching may think you’re crazy…but who cares when you’re angry?

Laugh

Follow the footsteps of Dr. Astana from Munnabhai. Think of another time, another place. Remember that joke or incident which you found hilarious. Think of something funny(*like Karan Johar’s voice *) and laugh. Laugh like a loon. Laugh like no ones watching. Laugh like you’ve never laughed before. Laugh so much that you forget why you were laughing in the first place. And as the battle between anger and laughter ensues in make sure you know who you want to win.:)

Relax

Burn some candles, listen to music, play the piano, have a bath, get a massage, etc. Anything which makes you calm. And to quote a most learned guru: “Just chill chill, just chill.”

Bring Happiness

Do the things you love the most. Go out shopping, eat a double-chocolate-and-vanilla-ice-cream-sundae without the calorie-worry, read your favourite book, watch that movie you were waiting to see. Basically, involve yourself with something you enjoy and hopefully, you should become happier.

~

And despite the fact that 2006 on Mouthshut started with some random person distrusting me(* lol, what a way to test my anger:P*) I know that its going to be a rocking year, and I’m sure it will be for all of you too… So I hope you’re lives are filled with peace and happiness, and if you resolved to control your anger this year then please comment to tell me how useful/ not useful my review was!:D
