Hey world ... I know ... almost everyone has had atleast one horrific moment in the autoricksaw ... those hair raising cutting of traffic, trying their best to kill us with their not less than micheal schumacher show of skill... but still I am an final year engineering student and I can tell you .. those god damn pests are very essential my life ... I can remember more than once in a while where my entire day was screwed up cos the rickshaw waalas went on strike ... I was late on a date by almost 2 Hrs because the auto waalas thought that they need some footage in the news.
Now dont get me wrong.. there are some really good autowalas ... though as rare as a polar bear in sahara... still there is a possibility that you might accidentally bump into one. While travelling in autos when you are reserving the auto ... do your best to haggle with them... but be reasonable with your haggling... after all those guys too have many mouths to feed. But this is one really great tip. When you are in a strange city and unfamilliar with the rates of the auto. Usually ride a share auto( the one when everyone is charged individually.) when its time to pay up. always pass the highest buck you think can be charged. If you feel it will be 15 bucks give him twenty. let him give you the change. Incase you ask him how much .. 99/100 you would be over charged.
Apart from that .. some times these people can make good conversation and some of them are quite hilarious. In bhubaneswar, where people are quite religious and god fearing ... you have some what better types of autowallas .... in the other reviews on this topic, people have told of the horror and things ... so I need not remind you of these things. Anyways... its risky for you and your dress to be travelling in an auto on a rainy day and on a typical Indian road.
