I cant tell you how to overhaul your wardrobe, but I can tell you how I do mine and it might help you!
First of all, keep your clothes closet and drawers organized!
My closet has 5 areas for hanging clothing. I keep one area for clothing I wear to work every day.one for skirts and slacks and jeans.another for blouses and shirts.one for dressy clothing.and last but not least, one area for clothingI wish I could still wear, but dont fit into anymore.
The last area takes the most work for an overhaul! Every three months or so, I go through this area and pick out what I know Ill never wear again(of course this changes all the time.LoL) andbarter it to the thrift store for someone else to clutter up their closet with!(LoL).Then I go through the thrift store andbarter what someone else donated from theirnever wear again section of their closet .
Right there Ive overhauled one section of my wardrobe for little or no cost.
I then go through all my other clothing that I do actually wear and when I feel Ive gotten enough use out of an item, I eitherbarter with the thrift shop for other items of clothing or redo some of what I do have.
Ill make a long sleeve blouse into a short sleeve blouse.snip, snip, snip.sew, sew, sew and its like a new item of clothing. Ill dye a pair of blue slacks brown or black, tan ones will become blue, my white ones arenew green ones now. My T-shirts that I wear for every day use also get the dye treatment. Older well worn jeans become shorts or skirts. I add sequins to plain blouses to turn them into a dressy garment. I use fabric stencils and fabric paints to turn old clothingnew.
When skirts went from below knee length back to mini skirts, snip and hem and youve overhauled old into new.
Add some iron on transfers to your clothing for a new look too.
Just think, long sleeves become short, collars become collarless, colors change, slacks become capris or shorts and dont forget that old, worn T-shirts can always become comfortable sleep shirts.
Remember, overhauling your wardrobe doesnt always mean you have to get rid of what you already have and buy the newest fashions. A little imagination goes a long way and youll always have something new to wear.
Pros: Save money and get a new look
