Yes, Im a woman, with all the negative points this society sees. I get periods every month, men dont get. Men can stay back and work, if I do they will gossip. Men can go to the bar and butter their bosses, if I dare to do, you know the consequences.
Opportunity comes in work clothes. And in difficult times the effectiveness of your work counts, not the number of pegs you gulped with your boss.
Apart from hard skills, to grow in profession, one should learn soft skills. As a small town girl, if I work with a good company in USA, Im thankful to three things - a movie, a book and a self-learning product.
The movie is "Erin Brokovitch" - oscar winning performance by Julia Roberts. The book is Steven Coveys "Seven Habits." and the self Learning Program is Espoirs "Smarten Your English through Success Secrets".Smarten Your English through Success Secrets built me - it helped me to prepare for GRE and pumped ideas after ideas into my head, which I use even now in my profession.
Globalisation has brought a lot of importance to the functional English. It becomes easier for a student with good communication skills and well groomed personality to get a good job in this competitive era. Companies are looking for candidates who are smart and can present themselves well. So soft skills training has to be given importance in undergraduate classes. After graduation most students either go for job or higher studies. Grooming is necessary for both. As communication skills is a part of soft skills, English faculty is the right person to be the soft skills trainer after undergoing professional training.
