Beautiful Lips and Expressive gorgeous eyes.Women Envy them, Men adore them.Any arguments?? Although I am someone who gives immense attention to my eyes, ( I am eye make up crazy) but lipstick is a sure to put on item in my list. But as most of the women here know, finding the right shade that flatters you is a tough job. As I had read in a beauty column, it could actually take years before you find the right one. But there are a few things that could help you with your quest. Glad if I can finally help someone....
- Decide on what kind of lipcolour you want to use. There are a few textures available like Pearl that had a shine or a pearly glow to it. Creme which is creamy in texture glides on smoothly and matte which do not have any glow or shine.(my favourite) . As far as creme texture is concerned Lakme still follows this division but most of the brands available has smooth glide on lipsticks now.It is a standard.
2.Buy branded lip colours that are free from any harmful chemicals or toxins. Never ever compromise on cosmetics. You would end up killing your skin. I love Revlon which has more matte natural and sophisticated shades. Maybelline if you are looking for something youthful or funky.Although I prefer not to splurge too much on Lipsticks by opting for MAC or Chanel. But its a good idea to spend some money if you use face make up(for a foundation or concealer) I am a person who doesnt use since my skin breaks out horribly.
Quit the search and buy then and there attittude. I mean you have plenty of time and most of the shops, even hypermarkets allow you to try on the colours.Try the colours you like.Do a little exploring with a few brands until you find the shade that appeals you.
I have seen women going with wrong colour of lipsticks. There are two factors that decided whether a specific colour might suit you. Your lip shape and your lip colour. For eg; if you are fair, a true red or reddish maroon might suit you, but if you are lips are too thin, its better to stay away from such dark colours since it will make your lips look like a line. Its a true fact women with fuller lips are the only ones who can carry off darkest colours of the range. Then the shade of your skin. Even the fairest indian women should stay away from pale pinks and mauves and nudes. Ivory skinned women, the fairest in our part can go for Pinks, violets and barbie browns but not the palest shades. The colours should be seen.Wheatish shade or women with medium skin tone.these people can carry out almost all the shades but will look the best in the red spectrum. (will talk about choosing a red soon). Stay away from shades that are pale. But there is a right shade for you in every spectrum. Pink , mauve , brown anything.Want to play safe. Choose the colour bordeaux. Its a dark maroon with a red and brown tinge.Dark women stay with dark browns with a tint of red. Go easy on it and avoid all pinks browns and mauves.
Choosing the red that is right for you will take sometime. It is not true when they say that dark women cannot wear reds.Every one had a red out there.I mean not everyone can carry out the screaming red of Drew Barrymore. Not even fair women but reds vary. There are light reds, sheer reds, dark reds, true reds, maroon reds, brown reds and so on. Fair skinned women can go for screaming true reds but if you dont have fuller shapely lips, better opt for sheer reds. Medium skinned women can go for Reds that have a little bit of maroon in it like bordeaux. Darker women should opt for the reds that have a significant chord of brown in it. And in any case thinner lips should opt for lighter sheer shades in the respective spectrums.
6.Meet your needs. For me I always like matte shades, glossy shades are not something that I love and I prefer to have a moisture based lip colour because I have a bad case of chapping and the climate here demands so. So look for the things that you need in a lip colour like long wear, moisture, plumpers, before you buy one.
Dont buy lip colour by the pack or by looking at the stick. Apply it and then buy, What you see is definitely not what you get.
Lip gloss. When you buy the gloss, settle on what effect you want to achieve, I love the plastic effect and hence love Revlon also the glass effect that the Maybelline watershine has. It depends on the coverage you want to achieve.
Lip liners: Dark liners, light fillers. A thing of past and something that you should be aware of.It doesnt look good at all. I dont know whenever I see those kind of lip linings I wonder how they dont reealise the awkwardness in this. But I am not against liners. I use lip liners regularly. When you buy a lip liner, go for a single shade darker or better the same shade.Lip liners are meant to outline your lips and shape it up, its not about adding borders to your lips. Dont draw outside your lips trying to make it look larger. This is a tip often shared but the problem is unlike the models on screen, someone meeting you can quite make out the line that traces outise the natural line and the lip colour would never stay as long as your liner. It would fade away leaving a bold line at the lips outside... it doesnt look quite pretty...does it?? Trace your natural lip shape always.
Use your lipstick as a blush but never use the blush as a lip colour.
Heavy Lipstick... Go easy on your eyes. Heavy eyes, sheerer lips. Its time to ditch the Madhuri Dixit Make up do(dont).
Wear sheer shades in the morning and darker shades in the evening. Some people mistake this by thinking that sheer shaded mean the lightest of the colours they can find. No!! sheer means shades that dont scream at you, its not that beautiful to see a woman wear screaming red or shiny maroon to office or to college. Stick with taupes, pinkish browns, neutral reds or sophisticated reddish browns. If you use lip gloss go easy on the colour. Pull out those glossy reds and darks in the evening lights. It would look glamorous.
There is no need to match your make up to your clothes. What matters is whether it flatters you or not.
