Hi,
This is my first review. I am quite agitated about my experience with Tanishq, in fact I feel cheated. Dont mind, this review has nothing to do with watches, i could not find an appropriate category, hence I am venting out here.
I went to exchange my old gold jewellry, at Tanishq showroom at Hyderabad , with pure jewellry that they sell. The stuff I took was melted before us, weighed, and price calculated taking into account the percentage of purity.Fine so far. Then, they said they would have to deduct 8% as standard deduction because Tanishq is buying gold from us. Then they took into account the making charges and service tax too.
When the actual billing was happening, we casually enquired what this standard deduction of 8% is about. The guy at the counter said its 4% interstate tax and the remaining 4% was for impurity.
My husband explained to him that while calculating the price of the gold that we exchanged, impurity factor has already been accounted. The guy got convinced after he did the calculation himself but had no clue why the 4% was being charged. And worse than this is that this 8% standard deduction is no where mentioned in the bill being given to customers. We made them write it on our bill so as to pursue the case.
They said they will clarify within a few days.
So, please make your own calculations before you exchange (not just going by what they say) and make sure every rupee you pay is shown in the bill.
