I know I have always advocated health foods and written countless reviews on the hazards of wrong eating, stressed the needs for exercising, advocated healthy foods websites, popularized gym’s and whatever not. But what the heck, I’m going to give in to my dark side today. Let the temptation take over and rule…
I am sure many of you would be familiar with this triangular shaped chocolate bar which further consists of small triangular pieces of sheer melt in the mouth sin. My tryst with Tebelorone started when I first visited Switzerland. There is no way that you can go to that country and miss this bar of temptation. In any case Switzerland is famous for its chocolates and watches. And since the precision Swiss watches were too expensive for me to afford, all I could gorge on were these dark temptations.
Tobelrone is surely one of the most popular Swiss brands and probably also one of the best. The logo of this brand itself depicts the beautiful mountain ranges of Switzerland along with a small cute bear. A very interesting fact that I read about tobelrone on Wikipedia later was that it was patented in 1909 at the Federal Institute of Intellectual property in Bern and can you guess who was the patent clerk there then. None other than Albert Einstein!
As promised earlier, I’m not going to talk about the negative effects that chocolates have on our health today. Instead I will tell you some positives. Chocolates’ especially of the dark variety are said to contain a lot of antioxidants that help neutralize the free radicals in our body and help fight cancer. But friends don’t confuse me, I definitely don’t suggest that you eat chocolates for their antioxidant benefits, just eat them for the sheer pleasure that they provide. If you are depressed and fed up with your boss, if things are just not going your way, if all the recession in the market and the pink slips floating around in offices these days are taking a toll on your mental health, then there’s nothing better than a bar of toblerone to get rid of all these bad feelings. At least for as long as it will stay in your mouth and hopefully for some time thereafter too, it will help you forget the whole world. And then again if there is a special girl that you need to impress what better than a bar of Swiss Chocó’s. If nothing else she sure will love you for your taste in gifts and chocolates.
These heavenly delights come in several shapes and sizes. Even though I have always bought the one that contains 12 peaks and weighs a 100 gms, there are several others. Starting from 3 peaks weighing a little over 10gms to the one with 17 peaks that weighs 750 gms. Further there are also several variations of the taste and composition too. There is a special “Dark Chocolate” variety as well as one that is milky in color. Even though my favorite remains the original one the dark variety is specially recommended for its health benefits.
But friends please brace yourself for the prices, they are sure to set you back by a lot of bucks. The standard 12 peaks bar costs about Rs 100 in India and the darker one of the same size about Rs 200. So as you can see it won’t do you too much good to get addicted to these, but you can surely have some for the special occasions as I have described earlier. Happy or Depressed times they are sure to lift up your mood whenever you have them.
