Tollywood Struggle & Reality Show

This film is based on the novel "RANGEEN PRITHIBI"(Colourful World) by


the eminent writer Suchitra Bhattacharya. The story is about Tollywood


life - their struggle, their dreams of those who are in & outside


the industry. Their emotional conflicts, motivations & ultimate


goals or achievements in life.


The story of Tolly lights revolves around Abhimunya who come to Kolkata


from a small hilly town of north Bengal with a dream of making it big


as a Director in the Tollygunge tinsel town. It is about his struggle


to find a foothold in the industry as a director & his numeros


failures. His righteouness, reluctance to take help frm questionable


sources & sense of ethicsmake him a misfit in the industry.


Around


this he writes a movie script, RANGEEN PRITHIBI which he dreams of


directing one day. After each humiliation & failure, he comes back


to the script adding notes& making changes to the script. The tory


has other charecters - Subroto, the conematographer who wishes well for


Abhimanyu’s mentor, Debjit, the rising star & the heroineof the


film, Krishnakali. Krishnakali is actually Abhimanyu’s friend’s wife


who leaves her family, husband & little child to become a succesful


movie star & for who Abhimanyu cares much. Krishnakali compromises


with the potental producer to fulfil his life long desire & dream


to direct film - RANGEEN PRITHIBI. Abhimanyu comes to know about this


& unable to accept her sacrifice for him, faces a dilemma - to


carry on or quit. Finally Sunny Deol comes to Kolkata & asks him to


direct the film for him.


Abhimanyu agrees & make his dream come


true. Positives First ever film made on Tolly world, high paid start


cast, brilliant acting skills, good story by Suchitra Bhattacharya.


Negatives Needs more skill to direct such A1 novel based films, story


lacks links somewhere in midst, no fate, personal life reflection of


the director in the film, no ups & downs in the movie to make


spectetors sit strong, docu-feature about -ve sides of film & TV


-MEDIA with help of some imaginary charecters.
