A fun film!

With a title as outrageous as ‘Tom Dick And Harry’ I walked into the film with some apprehensions. Besides Deepak Tijori doesn’t have the best track record in film direction - Fareb , Kamosh and oops have all been disasters.

However he seems to have struck the right cord in his latest rib-tickling situational comedy - Tom Dick And Harry! For those who bought tickets to Indra Kumar’s Pyare Mohan, this ought to give you a bout of deja vu. Deepak Tijori’s TDH deals with the same issue.

The film is about three distinct characters - Tom , Dick and harry with physical disability. ! Their lives take a turn when Celina enters the scene. What follows then is a rollercoaster ride of misfortunes and havoc.

The concept of the film bears resemblance to recent flop Pyare Mohan. But the similarity ends there. The situations, star cast and performances are far superior to PM

Tijori, who has also scripted the film, shows his control over the medium with well etched characters although some are stereotypical and hysterical situations.

Dino is in full-form . His comic timing and body language are impeccable. Jimmy shows a great flair for comedy at his first attempt. He shares stellar situations with Dino in the latter half of the film.

Celina is mechanical throughout. Kim relegates to the background and has hardly any footage.

Technically, the film is sound. The dialogues are witty and free from the sexual innuendos commonly found in this genre. Cinematography is good.

However the film could have also done with a smaller run-time and crisp editing. Some of the pre-interval portions need to be trimmed.

Nonetheless this comedy should strike and prove a decent run at the box office. The people I watched it with laughed continuously. They applauded dialogues. They smiled and clapped. And yes, there weren’t many double entendres, which means the embarrassment factor was kept to a minimum -- always a good idea when aiming for a diverse audience.

If a film requires a certain punch to become a hit, then, TDH has the right ingredients.

So leave your sensibilities and sense of logic at the door and be sure to bump into‘Tom Dick And Harry’!
