Well this is a movie which I thought had great promise but I was not very impressed with the way the movie turned out. The only thing worth watching in the movie is Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) flexing her muscles and well playing with guns.
About the movie
This movie has been adapted from the video game Tomb Raider and well I am of the opinion that the game is still the better option. I would rather play Tom Raider than watch this movie.
The action sequences were poorly handled and it reminded me again of not so famous hindi movies where everything is possible. The movie tried to bank on sensuality which fell pretty flat I must say. There are some pretty unbelievable scenes where Angelina Jolie is made to wear just a T-shirt and a thin jacket while others are almost freezing to death. Just to show off her brawns...??? I guess so. Not very realistic.
The graphics was pretty ok I guess but they could have done a better job. Huge sets and great expenditure but it appeared very pathetic and vague.
The direction leaves a lot to be desired. I must say that Mission Impossible 2 ( which was a disappointment again) had a better direction. I would be also happier watching Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon :):). I think Simon West, the director was depending on Jolie to pull this movie only with her flexing muscles and guns.
The script was the ultimate clincher to take the movie all the way down the charts. There is absolutely no script. Whatever there is left of the script is weak and very vague. The attempt at humor is pathetic.
The plot
The plot is also very weak. It seems like a mixture of small plots here and there. It starts off well but then it becomes very predictable in the middle and then again picks up from somewhere. This will definitely not capture the interest of the audience.
The plot is about a special event that occurs when all the planets align in every 5000 years. Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) is given a mission by her dead father, played by Jolie’s real-life father, Jon Voight. She has to find the substance which would make the owner the world’s powerful man and destroy it.
Thus follows a series of break-ins, mixed up fight sequences, lot of different locations which look very much a studio, lot of muscles and some display of female and male nudity....
Well like all plots the good overcomes the bad and Lara is able to fulfil her mission and all well that ends well. You go home with the feeling that you were better off with the game.
My suggestion
Dont lose sleep over this movie. You will have better movies to watch. On the other hand if you want to feast your eyes on Lara and well just sit dazed.. you are welcome to watch this movie :):):). She is a sight for sore eyes.
You could watch it on the video. But think twice before you rent this. Its not worth your time.
