I couldn’t wait for this movie to come out. Not because I am a huge fan of he Tomb Raider computer games or because I thought that a computer game could actually be translated into a decent movie, but because I loved the Indianah Jones movies and this is probably as close as I am going to get to a new one. I wasn’t disappointed.
Tomb Raider the movie is like a cross between Indianah Jones and the James Bond movies. Lara Croft is the maoin character, a super rich mega babe, who runs round risking life and limb in the pursuit of archaological finds. She is one tough cookie. At her disposal is a bunch of high tech gagetry and the like which you would probably expect. She finds that her father, another archaeologist has left an extremely precious artifact in her possession, one which will imbue you will enormous power but only once every 5000 years or something and you have to be in the right place at the right time - you know the usual kind of thing. Well some bad guys pinch it and then the race is on to get it back before they use it. Dumb cliched plot - superb movie.
Why superb? Well becuase the sets, stunts and acting performances from the assembled cast is euperb. Hamming it up superbly they all excel themselves and the stunts are just wonderfully implausab;le. Its great fun, but if you even begin to take it seriously you will hate it. Sit back, put your brain on hold and enjoy is my advice.
