My Top 5 English songs of the year 2004!

After writing reviews for a mobike, on Television Programme and on a movie, I was thinking on which subject should my next review be? Then I thought Of writing a review on my favorite pastime i.e. Music. I have come across a lot Of reviews on the top Hindi songs for the year 2004 and thus a subject came into My mind to write this review on the best 5 songs I liked for the year 2004! As already the Hindi songs were covered, I decided to review some English songs By various artists. I have tried to rank them, but all songs are close to my heart.

  1. Live like you were Dying – Tim McGraw

A Grammy award winner, he has been performing since some years now With his band called the ‘Dancehall doctors’! He is relatively new to India Because he is into Country music, and not into rock or pop which is popular in India. This track ‘Live like you were dying’ is the very best kind of modern country song. This song is very close to my heart and I listen to it at least once in a day. The emotion in his voice is very honest and touches the heart. This song is about a Person who discovers that he is going to die and how he transforms after that, And starts ‘loving deeper’, starts ‘speaking sweeter’ and starts to forgive which he Has been denying! This song is highly recommended by me for a lover of Slow songs and also for those who look for lyrics first in the song.

  1. First cut is the deepest – Sheryl Crow

Originally sung by Rod Stewart, this year it was reproduced by the very talented Singer Sheryl Crow. Again a slow number with soulful lyrics about a guy/girl who Was ditched by his girl/guy and now has/she found sum one, but ‘First cut is the deepest’! Sheryl crow has been a rock and roll star and was very popular in 90’s. You can also hear the original one sung by Rod Stewart, which I liked the most.

  1. Cinnamon Girl – Prince

Prince is back with a bang with his new album ‘Musicology’. Cinnamon girl, The tale of a woman of cinnamon color in a post 9/11 world possesses an irresistible Dance floor stomp. The rock guitars and the melody will make you smile in spite Of the serious words. With this album prince proves that his recordings are still Worth listening to and looking forward to in future.

4 Let’s get it started – Black eyed peas

This song has been nominated for the category of ‘song of the year’ for the Grammy’s. Interesting band, which has a huge fan following in the states. Again relatively new to India, but this song must be popular with those Who are party animals! This song is actually the new version of their best Selling song ‘let’s get retarded’ but is equally cool and funky. You will definitely Drown yourself to the fast beats and the self-retardation chorus of the track which Will get you started!

5 Sunrise - Norah Jones

This single is from her critically acclaimed album ‘ Feels like Home’. It has a Country feel to it, a beautifully crafted piece of music which further consolidates Her position as one of the premier female recording artists in the world today.I specially like her voice, which I find very soothing and very melodious. And I Feel she is as much a piano player as a singer, despite her best efforts to hide This fact.

So these are my favorites for the year 2004! Yes, they have been chosen from theSongs that ‘I’ have heard and thus their may be many as good or better than these In the past year.
