Topkapi was the name given to the first palace of the Ottoman Sultans in Istanbul(in modern day turkey). That is however not the name by which I was introduced to the restaurant by a friend. The name by which it seems to be called by a large number of people is Top Cafe(since coffee in Kannada is Kapi, and the restaurant is located at the top of Bangalore, they decided it was more hep to call it Top Cafe).
When I called the restaurant for a reservation(and once you go there you will realize you need none) a waiter picked up the phone and pronounced the name somewhere between what my friend called it and the name given to it by its owners(I hope).
It is very hard to describe ones experiences when it is not very good.... Here again is a summary
- I ordered Turkish Cusine or what had a name similar to Turkish and found the food
disgusting
The smell inside the place was stale
Never seen such sluggish and indifferent service
I discovered that neither the cook or the waiter had any idea about meditaranean
or Turkish fare.
- Last and very important no one in the restaurant seemed to know what Topkapi
was.
If you want to go for the view by all means do so. Also if you want a romantic escape in a noisy polluted city into a sparse restaurant again this is the place to be.
Its not where you order food though
