Felt good when it was over

Like all bad experiences, they feel good when you have left them behind. I am glad this is in my past now. It felt OK when it was happening, but now I realize it robbed me of a few years of my life. They say you spend most of your waking hours at work. Why waste these with a bunch of people who make you feel like shit?

Sometimes life throws some lemons and you make lemonade. But is lemonade what you want to drink? Why not drink vodka instead?

I am a strong believer in enjoying my work and being able to add value to my company and projects. Some work cultures, like the one in THBS made it very difficult to achieve this objective. To be fair, it was just their sense of what adds value that was different to mine. They were more ’money’ driven and I wanted to add other kinds of value. Unfortunately, the two objectives weren’t really synchronized at any point.

To be a ’body’ that is ’body shopped’ is somehow not my career objective and I will always be uncomfortable if a company treats me this way in a brazen manner.

I feel sometimes you get along with some people and you don’t get along with others. But some cultures make you want to do more for the company, be more motivated, work and socialize with the people in the company, get more ideas about new business propositions and create lasting relationships. Torry Harris, for me, was not one of these environments.

I do wish them all the best in their chosen path though, even though it is not a path of my choosing or liking.
