Just want to bring to notice of all an incident that happened with me yesterday at Total Mall (Kemp Fort).Being this mall near to my place, I usually go there to buy groceries and other household items. Went there with my husband and one and a half year old son.As my son was troubling a lot, my husband left with him leaving me to finish the errands. After billing the items, at the exit I showed the bill to the security lady, as is the criteria. There was a mismatch between the bar code on the box and the one mentioned in the bill. It was a dinner set box on which there were two stickers for the bar code - one with the price Rs 399 and the other with Rs 699. The cashier had billed it for Rs 399. I was not even aware of all this as my total bill amt was Rs 2866.
With the security lady, there was a man with big mustache whose name I think is Murugan, who told me to come with him to a room. There he said that I was aware of the price and I paid him less. This was ridiculous and humiliating. He was questioning me for the mistake of his cashier. That fellow doesnt have the common sense that if I really wanted to do something like this I would remove the original tag and then put the new one rather thank keeping both. They started checking all the items I had purchased. As it would have been, everything was paid for. He just didnt had any point and I think that because I was alone at that time, that fellow just wanted to harass/torment me with his stupid baseless allegations which even he wasnt sure of.
He added we have CCTV cameras around. I urged him to first go and see in his surveillance cameras whatever he doubted and then come back and talk to me. He asked his people to see in CCTV for the time I was billing the items. I was made to stand in that shabby room for 45 mins till he was doing all his non sense. After all this he went somewhere to check in the CCTV and after coming back, he said that I had kept that box on the table for the cashier to bill. This was utter crap as who else will otherwise keep it on the table. Instead of this fellow apologizing for wasting my one hour and making me stand there as a suspect.
A feedback to Total management to
give basic etiquette training to your staff.
Not to harass the customers in guise of security.
Apologize if you are wrong.
After I told my husband this, he came to the mall so that we can talk to the manager of Total mall about this. The floor manager was there at that time who apologised, and gave us a customer feedback form to fill and said appropriate action will be taken. I really dont know if anything will be done against the concerned person or it was just a fling.
Would not want any other lady who is shopping in this mall to be put through thistorment.
