All branded items sold at attractive prices in malls need not be of value for money or of **good quality.
*My experience at Total Mall, Madivala, Bangalore, was as follows:
Bought a pair of Richer brand of shoes - Approx around 1000 Rs. This is known as a relatively good brand. No warranty mentioned by Mall on it. The show just lasted me 4 to 5 months. Would you say that as value for your money. Richer being a brand being sold even on shoebazaar.com. The shoe developed a defect - the moulded sole had seperated from body on the behind.
I approached Customer help desk at Total Mall. The people called the person in charge at the Shoe section. The person told the shoe has only 3 months of warranty - this was no where mentioned on the bill. Also that they told it by word of mouth at the time of sale. Hmm! When did word of mouth start becomming term and condition to a sale. Anyways he was couteous enough to say he will check and let me know the day after - if I can come with the shoe. I returned only to find another person - whom I had to explain the whole stuff again. This person just outright denied to consider or do anything - saying we tell you at time of sale that warranty is only for 3 months. Swear no one told me that at time of sale.
When I asked for a Manager or a supervisor to esclate the issue, the customer help desk said its not possible and extended their visitors book to take in a complain - this from the look of the book and details captured was a prefunctionary. To this day no one has contacted me or tried to understand the problem.
I was frustrated and left the shoe with the salesman - saying he can use it if he feels wat he sold is still useful. Ha! So much value of money for 1000Rs and 4 months. I guess he keeps it as a souvenier for his customer service.
I have never gone back to Total Mall thereafter. Never heard form them after. A mark of comparison is Big Bazaar - who have terms and conditions to product return if not satisfied - behind every bill printed. I have felt totally satisfied with then when they give me equally valuable purchase instead of the product returned. That is customer service. Total Mall - you are to decide! Anyways from then on I shifted to good brands like - bata, nike, addidas/reebok. A lesson learned the hard way!
