Toto’s Garage near Pali Market at Bandra is one of the most trusted watering holes north of the Mahim Creek. I have been parking here for over six years now and thankfully it is blissfully ignorant of the waves of uppity modernization that has swept over the town. The decor is different and I guess one grows familiar with it over time. It is a small place, so while getting a table is difficult, it is also a place where chance meetings with friends cannot be ruled out.
Alcohol is affordable and the food, if you know what to order, is good. Service is usually slightly delayed, but made up by the overall friendliness. Almost all varieties of alcohol are available throughout the year. The music is definately of high standard as is the location of the DJ in a rusted maruti van hanging from the roof (requests are, however, frowned upon). Toto’s has a great homely feeling about it, making it a wonderful place to unwind. I would go to the extent of saying that it is a Bandra institution which deserves to stay just the way it is. There is no dance floor and frankly, there is no need. There also isn’t any dress code. I mean it’s really this bar next door which happens to play great music... So what are you waiting for?
