I (think I) Love My Toyota Celica

Okay, where to begin?

It was a fateful winter’s night in Rhode Island, USA...it was December of 2002...I was driving my 1987 Pontiac Bonneville home late at night in a snow storm. Okay I admit it, I was QUICKLY driving my car home in the snow storm and I was on the high way...talking on a cell phone...and the roads were very icy...great this is making ME sound bad....ack!! Okay fine, I’m bad...I was going 77mph in a 65mph zone and it was snowy and icy so that lowers the speed limit so I should have been going slower but I wasn’t and to make matters worse I was talking on a cell phone and then right in front of me was a deer!! I knew if I slammed on my brakes my car would spin out of control and I’d probably get killed since it was so snowy and icy so I did the brave thing and plowed right into that mother deer. I never once hit my brakes...so I slammed into that beautiful doe at 77mph and screamed into my cell phone scaring my friend on the other end. Oh well..she survived the shock as did I..the deer? Well unfortunately she exploded into numerous little pieces all over the road which I continued to run over as I kept driving and screaming. I couldn’t force myself to stop because I was so horrified at mutilating a deer...and the pieces..oh my goodness the body parts I was running over..it was horrific! So I ended up totalling my car...yippee!! I wanted a newer car anyways..I was sick of my beat up old ’87 Pontiac..the thing was the size of a small yacht.

About three days after the accident I went out and purchased a 2000 Toyota Celica. It’s a beautiful car..if you like sporty cars...which I do. Now I will admit, this car is fast, handles EXTREMELY well in great weather, hugs turns and curves at 80mph without the feeling you’re going to flip over and does great on gas. The drive is wonderful....low road noise, tight gripping and steering, fast....beautiful car inside and out...fast....large trunk space for a hatchback, fast...oh yah, did I mention that the car is fast? Heh Heh....

The car is equipped with a sunroof, cruise control, cd/cassette player, air conditioning, power windows and locks, alarm system, two speakers in the front of the car, two speakers in the back of the car, two speakers on either side of the doors, two speakers on the back sides of the car in the back....which produce GREAT sound when you’re playing music. The car is also equipped with daytime running lights, optional fog lights, racing seats, and I can’t think off the top of my head what else my car has or could have.

The only negatives about my car are cramped back seat space...don’t plan on having any activity in the back of the car because that ain’t happening in a Celica. Celicas also handle poorly in the winter because of snow and ice.

I had a bad experience during the winter months with my Celica just because the car is small and light and it slides and fishtails all over the roads. Not to mention it could get stuck in 2’’ of snow...but hey, if you all live in India you can’t get much snow there so I’d recommend buying a Celica because it’s great in great weather! I’d suggest single people or people with no children buy this car. This is definitely NOT a family car or a car for people who taxi everyone around. Frankly the car may have 4 seats but it doesn’t COMFORTABLY seat 4 people....so this car is great for single people or for a couple with no kids or no friends. Heh Heh....sure you can be single and have friends...but just have one friend...or have one friend and strap the other friend on top of the car...or you could use that great trunk space for storing your friends there....who knows... All I do know is that Celicas look good, drive well in good weather, and because it’s made from a great company...they are dependable and reliable. Toyotas are known for being a great car company.
