Dear All, I own a toyota Etios VD 2014.i am writing this review after using my car for 2+ years covering 40000 Kms.
Pros:
We can rely on this car manufacturer TOYOTA. The master in training other industries in maintaining exceptional quality in their products. When it comes to Engine, this one comes with 1364CC D4 diesel engine which is capable of delivering the applauding power. Perfect sedan car for your family of 5 persons. Etios is the only car in my knowledge which has got 590lts boot space. Hope this one is king in their sedan segment.It has got a tiltable steering and height adjustable driver’s seat. This comfort leads me to drive this car 500+ Kms without even a single stop in between.The mileage is quiet remarkable. Believe me, I get an mileage of 18-19 kmpl on an city drive and 20 Kmpl on highway drive. The electronic assisted power steering is light weight which gives you a feel that you are driving a hatchback. Toyota service is the important reason I have chosen this car. They are outstanding in maintaining this at all times. The EM60(Express Maintenance - 60 Mins) is a catchy service process, where you will get your regular oil-filter change, standard checks on brake pads, Clutch and a neat water wash. It is really a time saving practice where you can drop in a service location, watch lobby TV sometime, your car is ready within 60 mins for the next outing.On my 3 year completion next Jan 2017 I have spend 18900rs on my regular services till date. If you calculate it will come around 18rs/day on
maintenance cost. You would have seen many cab operators use this Etios because of this low maintenance cost.
Cons:
I took this car for 9.2 Lacs(after discount 8.8 Lakhs on road). Even with this huge price tag, I was totally disappointed on finding no electrically adjustable/retractable mirrors in it. The Dash board and the interiors really need a improvement which uses a cheap quality plastics. I Didn’t noticed much difference on interior improvements in the latest Etios Platinum.
But, the new version has got the electric OVRMS(retractable), Bluetooth audio, Alloy wheels(Only 4 wheels), and front Dual airbags as a standard factory fitment. Even though we have a option in our car to install this features, Toyota may insisted their dealers, not to entertain customers with this after sales accessories fitment. As the new bookings on the updated model in the same segment will have a impact due to this practice. Even if you force them to do so, they may discourage you with silly reasons. In rainy days, we can see water droplets between door and body area. Accumulation of dust in this same area is also more. we need to explicitly clean this area regularly to avoid rust formation. The new etios platinum is also having the same issue, since toyota needs to redesign its "B" pillars with some design alternatives they may kept them as it is in the new car also. The rear door window glass will get down only to an certain extent as toyota claims it as a safety feature when you have kids in the rear seat. But, it will drive us crazy, when we need to take out /or give away something big without opening the doors. Overall:
I will definitely recommend this car for a family who enjoys vacations often. This car will serve your purpose, no doubts on that. Just with few cons this is a perfect sedan
in terms of durability, consistency, mileage and driving comfort. Test drive yours today, you will feel difference.
