All new Toyota Innova 2016

Finally after a series of facelifts Toyota Innova has finally got a better upgrade to overall car.

The upcoming car already launched in Indonesia will be brought to India Via the autoexpo’16 platform and its a most well come upgrade to an already better car which has a great sales figure in Indian’s heart.

Specs:

Engine n Gear box: replacing old 2.5 KD series deisel engines(101 bhp 200Nm) with newer 2.4 GD series with 148 bhp and 360 Nm torque with 10% more efficient than previous one mated with six speed automatic tiptronic gear box is a delight for Indian car buyers. It do carry forward the 5 gear manual aswell.

Dimensions: length:4735mm(150mm longer than old gen) Width:1820mm(65mm more) Height: 1795mm(35mm more) Wheelbase: 2750mm(same as previous gen)

The design has been completely changed to like of modern 2016 era with radically maintaining the Innova’s Similar people carrier Profile. From front the hexagonal grill(which is a bit of trend now days) look muscular with(dual slat) horizontal curved 2 chrome bars with all black bars below towards the bumper profiling all the way through out the car and since it bulges out a bit it give the car a 3D effect, the grills neatly meet up into the headlamps of the car which now houses led projector Units. The bonnet has also been changed in accordance to the new car profile and it gets all new bumper with new designed fog lamps that now houses the turn Indicators.

The side profile still looks like a van though toyota has tried enuf to make it look more modern but carrying forward the same wheelbase doesnt shows the effort that has been put into the side profiling atall.

The 17 Inch alloys are new though. The rear end gets a new bumper and bomerang-shaped-tail lamps which has impressive mark over me.

Moving towards interior and you will definitely buy this car after doing so, It got all new dashboard in dual tone with wood and brushed metal finish inserts all along in the top of the line variant with 7 inch touch infotainment system with ambient led cabin lighting which is a must to be seen to experience it . seats are broader and longer now providing very good under thighs and overall support but rear AC vents are carried forward from the current gen variants. But now the third row has a bit of more space to through in adults at ease in there.

It got three airbags in front for driver and driver knee and the third one for the co passenger.

ABS n EBD is standard across all variants, where as top model gets Vehicle stability control(VSC) and hill assist control(HAC)

The above details is what you can get mere just by looking at photos and specifications of the vehicle online but whats important for you comes next.

When you drive this car you feel the extra 45 horses power roaring the instance you put the your feet on the pedal and yes is surprisingly fast over its predecessor and with ample of torque in it you will always feel the grunt of the engines to manoeuvre you as fast as you want and all this is possible also because of the new automatic gear box which is quick on changing gears and understood my driving style very well.(and with tiptronic feature you can maually adjust the gears are per your liking on the go) The car comes with two modes Eco and power and the do quiet well as to what they are called.

There is a turbo lag around 1300rpm but its well under control so I felt no problems for it. The engine though sounds unrefined and so are the vibrations also but Toyota has managed good NVH levels on her.

Ride quality is way better than its predecessor and more flat and plush. Though the steering wheel is bit heavy at stop and go conditions traffics and car is not that much agile as it was previously but I can live with it as its much of a Chauffeur driven car and 2nd row is the best place to be in this car. Cornering of the was was breeze as it seemed more rigid due to VSC but since no hill were present so I couldn’t test the Hill assist control.

Now talking about mileage well last current innova gives me around 7-8 in city and 11 on high ways(but since my driving style is to bad) the newer gave me 8.6 in city and can’t say about highways because I couldn’t test it there.
