I drove home my Innova last week end. It felt almost like I have bought a 2 bedroom flat on wheels. When I turned back from the drivers seat, my kids in the last row waved at me from faaar away. Its 15 feet long??!!!
I primarily bought a toyota because I wanted a car that can last atleat 10 years. I will come to how great this vehicle is. But as soon as I bought this, a couple of thougts crossed my minds that can possibly useful for a few others too.
Unless one is a huge mile logger or a taxi fleet owner, diesel version possibly makes less sense. Toyota , I dont think, are masters of diesel engine and the diesel engine sound is something that rattles you instantly, especially if you are used to a petrol car. It costs 1 lakh more than petrol version, with which you can buy 2000 liters of petrol and drive say 22, 000 Km for free. I dont think many city dwellers will drive even that much in 2 years. Diesel version is no way near petrol on driving fun.
If you have a smaller family, and if you love driving, you may do well to consider settling for a sedan, as the road behaviour and driving pleasure is significantly better in a sedan. All said and done, the drive is no way as much fun on an innova (or a sorpio or a tavera for that matter) as a Corolla /Accent / Lancer/ Ikon. Its a bit of a toil here.
Otherwise Innova is great in every aspect. Its looks are stunning, space is more than enough for the largest of the families, A/C is amazing, interirors are great. Small things have been paid ample attention to.
More than anything, it gave me instant confidence that it is possibly a partner for my life. I dont think I ever got that confidence with any other car. When I was close to buying a Scorpio, I never thought beyond 3 years.
