Realised that the innova CRDI could do better with an INTERCOOLER. Could get much better power with the same 2.5 liter engine, and silence all the complaints.
There seems to be ample space in the engine compartment to incorporate this feature. Especially just under the hood, theres a flat area of the inlet duct after the turbo. With an airbreather located on the bonnet (as in the new scorpio or Hyundai terracan), the looks would be appealing too, plus having a lower hood profile, this wold not stick out and obstruct view.
Hope Toyota looks into this aspect. All problems would be solved, of better looks and higher power.

Just an explanation of how a turbocharger works. A turbocharger compresses air and sends it to engine. DUring compression, pressure as well as temperature increases. Higher pressure means more mass of air enters the engine .. which means more mass of fuel can be injected and burnt. leading to higher power per stroke.
Intercooler. Its a heat exchanger that is located between turbocharger and engine. This cools the air going into the engine. Cold air is denser and hence again you get more mass of air entering engine.. allowing more fuel to be burnt leading to higher power.
