Hi people Dharani is back with the complete details & Drive report of the new Toyota innova ..It is built on a new platform called , I.M.V [International Innovative Multi-purpose Vehicle]....Let me make it simpler for u , It is what u get if a Camry gets into bed with a Qualis...Luckily it is more like camry and less like Qualis :}
INTRO
It will be available in 10 versions from May 2005 i.e 5 Diesles & 5 Petrols
THE BASIC E--Model has no power sterring , no power windows & the luxo bits, Just in case if any fleet owners [taxis, rent a car] want to press it into service. the in -between models G1, G2 and G3 models are well equipped..The Top end varient [v] comes with air bags[Both passenger & driver side], A.B.S [Anti Lock Braking System]..and all the luxury bits
PRICING ::
This part is going to be the exiting part of this vehicle..The Innova is priced between Rs 6.7 lakh [Base E- Version] to Rs 10 lakh [Top end V-Version, Diesel],
VARIENTS ::
The mainstay of innova is going to be the Diesel powered version, The new diesel engine is a Four cylinder , 2500cc . It is a CRDi Engine [Common Rail Diesel Ignition] and is very envinormental friendly. It Qualifys the euro 3 standards .. it produces 102 Bhp @ 3600Rpm.
It is a MACRO LEAP when we consider the the diesel engine of Qualis . Which produced only 75 Bhp
PETROL::
The petrol engine of the innova is Toyota’s VVTi -engine [ Variable Valve Timing Engine],
It has 2000 cubes and is very refined like other toyota petrol engines. It produces 136 Bhp
The petrol varient of the qualis was a dud AND Didn’t sell in significant numbers
But contrary to that expect the petrol varient of innova to attract great deal of sedan buyers.Especially the top end V model is likely to attract many buyers
Now u people must be wondering where did I get to drive a innova ..Nowhere else than the Toyota Dealership at Vijayawada Opp N.T.R Medical university ..which is very close to my house ..i went there with one of my Friend’s [Dhananjay] .asking for a test drive ..they registered our names & Phone numbers ...They asked us to come back after few days as there was no test car available ...When we returned they gave us a new, white colour Innova base diesel varient for a test drive..I took of with my friend & the sales man beside me ..i didn’t push it much as I was new to car driving & the sales man was next to me .
It was fun to drive and the accelaration was so good I felt as if I am Driving a petrol car..it handles very well too
INTERIORS:
The interiors of the base version diesel come with CLOTH UPHOLSTERY, The seats are good with ambient lateral support
STEREO;;With the poineer deck 4 speakers are standard , the speakers are of very good quality.. before going for the test drive I took 50 CENT Get rich or Die Tryin cassete with me to test it’s audio quality .Believe it or not it rocks ..it feels so cool when I put full volume ..without Krrrr very clear indeed
AIR CONDITIONING:: The a.c on the innova works fine im higher end version the a.c vents are present in the rear seats too...I must say I think innova’s ac is the best in its segment if not one of the best in indian cars
DASH BOARD :: The dash board has A.C control switches high above the gear shift nob & Poineer Deck is standard on the base varient diesel, There is a Ciggerete lighter , Lightened ash tray container which pops up with one push , there are many storage areas in the dash board , and there is space also for optional CD player
INSTRUMENT CONSOLE:: There is a speedo meter , revcounter[Not present in the base varient], Fuel guge, Engine temp indicator, There is a feauture on the instrument console which glows when seat belt is not fastened.
SEATING CAPACITY:> All most all varients can seat 8-9 people comfortably the last row of seats can be folded easily to form a luggage area...even with last row seats on there is plenty of space for the luggage ....
EXTERIORS::
The innova bosts a all new design , The head lights look good , The fog lamps are optional & present as standard only in the top end version’s ..but I think innova looks better with fog lamps , The front grill is Chrome plated , The rear view mirrors are chrome plated
The Door handles are Chrome plated in the top end versions , , ALLOY WHEELS are optional but are standard on the top end [V] VERSION
The rear tail gate handle is chrome plated , the tail lights of the Innova are easy on the eye ..i personally like them very much
GEAR BOX:;The gear box is 5-speed manual on all varients , Automatic transmission is an optional extra , The automatic transmission is same as the one on the new camry...but I personally prefer manual ..As toyota has re-degined the gear box for city driving ..u donot need to shift much
BRAKES :;Ventillated disc’s are present in the front and rear , i didnt use them a lot but they worked fine
ABS is present in the top end versions ...
SUSPENSION>
Gone is the leaf spring suspension borrowed from bullock carts ..innova comes with splended four link suspension set up
VERDICT::
I personally think Toyata guys are playing clever with a price band suitable for all segments of car buyers, The innova is indeed a great package overall , it depends on your driving habits and budget .u can go for any of the 10 varients , but I suggest the Bottom end diesel version becaz it has good value of money and is very economical, but petrol enthusiasts can go for the petrol versions
MILEAGE FIGURES ::
The company claims 10 --12kmpl for the petrol versions the exact figures are not yet determined
