Don't get intimidated by two antennas

Yes it gives two antennas at a very competitive price. I’ve heard enough of it but is it even worth it if it doesn’t even work properly?

I’m using this particular modem cum router for past 4 months. Got it from amazon flash sale for just 1449. A chip off price to say but am I happy with this product? No I’m not. Why do you ask, I’ll tell you why.

First of all there are different versions of this particular model. The best version and the most improved and latest version to came out so far is "v4". Rest all have some or other problems. Like in v3, there sure are two antennas, but only one of them is working and the other one is for show so if you even removed the other one, it’ll still give you the same range. So the first thing to keep in mind while purchasing this particular router is to ensure that you are buying v4 from your vendor.

Now the other big problem with this router is the frequent disconnection of the internet connection which will force you to reboot the modem frequently which is very irritating.

The good feature about this modem is that it supports 4 guest network so if you’ve got neighbours who keep on asking you the wifi password, make a guest network, put a speed limit on them and let them enjoy while you controlling how much data speed they consume.

But this particular good feature doesn’t outweigh its serious disconnection problems. I’ve contacted their customer support and all they have done is to guide me to go to modem setting and change the default DNS to Google’s DNS which I had done already. Other than that, they just tell you that it’s the ISP’s problem but in truth this is a modem’s fault because all the ISPs in India won’t give improper connection on this particular modem altogether.

Another big problem in this modem is the data loss or packet loss while transmitting the data on wifi. The average loss remains about 1-3% depending on what service you are using. Because of this the highest and lowest point of your bandwidth has a big difference and this also result in higher ping. In my 4mbps connection, my highs and lows are 394kbps - 567kbps with a ping of around 60ms that too on optical fiber cable connection(obviously the connection is more stable on other modems like d-link).

I bought this modem because of the price I got on amazon otherwise I would have gone for D-link which was 500 bucks more than this product.
