Traces of sandal wood is a story about love and loss. The movie begins with Mina played by popular indian child actress Vaibhavi. Mina collecting water to bring for her mother, delivering her little sister.She stumbles along, pail of water balancing on her hand, as her mother’s screams echo.her mother dies after giving birth to the child.mina takes the baby in her lap, vowing to raise it herself and naming her Sita. But poverty stricken girls end up being sold off and forced to separate. Mina manages to escape the prospect of life as a child prositute and find a home as a maid where love blossoms between her and the rich son of this family.
