I’ve used three of these for a secondary backup of video footage.
They have been excellent. The read and write speeds have been solid, especially when dealing with large numbers of video files. I’ve used both thunderbolt and usb3 external drives. I haven’t seen any performance benefit of thunderbolt over usb 3 when using a single external drive. It has to be a raid setup, or an external ssd for thunderbolt to be useful.
The case has a slight rubber feel to it, which provides the anti shock. I have no complaints about the durability. I’m very careful about shock to a spinning drive while in use, so I can’t say wether this drive is better than any other for abuse while being used.
I’m very pleased with these drives. Their price point, durability, compact size and solid performance are why I’ll continue to use them in the future.
