Travelguru hotels - pay extra at the last minute!

I booked a domestic hotel through travelguru 10 days in advance (all paid up by credit card). 12 hours before I am to reach the hotel, I am asked to pay extra over and above the amount I had already paid. And guess what? As per travelguru rules, cancellations in the last 24 hours is entitled to 0% refund - so they did find the right time to extort additional money for the hotel booking.


On calling customer service, the person first said that my booking id was incorrect and said that I couldnt give him anything other than a 6 digit ID (I had a 4 char + 10 digit booking id). Finally after some arguments, he did find my booking; has the audacity to tell me that I need to read the fine print on travelguru about these charges.


Will be raising a complaint in consumer forums as well. Meanwhile advice to all is (a) NEVER pay in advance for any bookings on travelguru (b) Avoid this portal (Cleartrip, MakeMyTrip and Yatra are clearly superior alternatives and have never billed me last minute charges in all my bookings with them).
