Made a booking in Gangtok on 7th May for dates 24-26 May, confirmed by Travelguru.
Got a call on 17th May, saying booking could not be confirmed. I do not know what they meant earlier when they comfortably deducted money on my card and sent me a confirmation e-mail. Alternate property offered, under the context of being an upgrade(price is the same, I am not sure why they call it an upgrade).
Details of hotel picked by me:
The Sikkim Retreat
Tripadvisor rating #19 of 76 hotels, 87% positive reviews(34 reviews)
Alternate property suggested by Travelguru:
Nirvana Residency
Tripadvisor rating #69 of 120 B&B and Inns, 57% positive reviews(8 reviews)
Is a consumer purchasing online finally left to the mercy of the website? I planned this trip for parents, and the reviews for the alternate hotel are not family friendly. However, I cannot find a suitable alternate in the kind of time they have left me with. I had to go for what they offered. The booking should have been denied on 7th and not so late.
Big thumbs down, I would not use the services again, and not recommend to anyone.
