Welcome to the world of harassment

I had done a 3 nites hotel booking for jodhpur through travelguru, booking id 39196, booking done on 24th October 2007, i.e. exactly a month before the check in date. check in date is 25th nov. 2007.


on 21st nov. I called up the hotel in jodhpur to reconfirm my booking. I was shocked to learn that they don’t have my  reservation in their records. I immediately called up travelguru. then started all the harassment. the lady put me on hold and later when she got back on the line she told me she has just reconfirmed with the hotel and that I can call back the hotel in half hour and they’ll acknowledge the booking. I called up the hotel after one hour but got the same answer from the hotel


after this i had to call up travelguru again. but then you speak to one person, he / she says they’ll get back to you and never do. they just say they are trying to confirm the booking at the hotel, and that if they don’t get it done at the same hotel, they’ll do it at some other upgraded hotel with an upgraded room.


after two full days of calling them again and again, today on 23rd nov. morning, I got a call from them about booking me into another hotel. the first nite was in a suite, and the second and third nite in a double room.


when I checked the hotel on the net, I found the tariff of the double room to be almost half of what I had paid to travelguru whereas the tariff of the suite was the same of what I had paid to travelguru for a double room.


when I called them back telling them about this tariff issue and that they are degrading my hotel rather than upgrading it, they had the nerve to tell me to call up the hotel and ask them the current tariff. when i raised my voice she put me on hold and later told me if there is any tariff difference they’ll refund me the difference. this is inspite of them sending me a mail showing me the tariff breakup as per what I had paid to travelguru.


i told her clearly I’m not interested in staying at this degraded hotel and want a complete refund. after i raised my voice they agreed to refund the full amount for which I have just received a mail a few minutes back.


now, to sum it up, I would suggest people to book through travelguru only if they ready for the harassment and last minute trip cancellations (i have cancelled train tickets to jodhpur and am bearing the cancellation charges). also book only if your are a wise traveller and you check if you are being cheated by them which in my case they had tried but they couldn’t since I was wise enough to check which hotel are they booking me into.
