Trident, Chennai... too expensive to be right.

I stayed at Trident Chennai which is about 15 Mt drive from airport. It is a low rise two storied hotel; spread over about 5 acres and is well maintained. The hotel has very good resort like and secure ambiance. It has about 100 plus rooms and the staff claims that it is Five Star Deluxe.

The room comes with or without B.fast and the lobby is compact and just fine. The staff however are very friendly and greet you with a two hand "namaste’. It is a Hotel Oberoi group.

The soaps and wash liquids are of very good quality and so is the fruit basket. The food on order is very expensive and has less variety (particularly the round the clock menu). The upkeep is meticulous. The travel desk is quite friendly and booked my air ticket  in 10-15 Mts.

The breakfast is good and is multi-cuisine with both north and south Indian items, juices, sprouts etc. Though the rooms are top-class but the hotel lobby does not have the required elegance. It has the ambiance of more of a resort than a star hotel. Incidentally the website does not indicate the star rating while the staff claim that it is "five star deluxe".

It is convenient Airport Hotel and a resort but definitely not "value for money."
