Yes ! this is the Basic Idea of the film Trishul (1978).

The plot seems an ordinary story, the twist and turn written by Salim-Javed are completely spicy and above all the Angry Young Man Vijay’s Role Perfromed by Amitabh Bachchan is the best. The Eyes and Body Language of Amitabh in this film are at it best.

The Statistics of the film TRISHUL 1978 are :-

Producer: Gulshan Rai

Director: Yash Chopra

Music Director: Khaiyaam

Lyrics: Sahir Ludhianvi

Cast: Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Rakhee, Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon, Prem Chopra, Waheeda Rehman, Sachin

The Plot

Raj (Sanjeev Kumar) & Shanti ( Waheeda Rahman) are both from a middle class family loves each other and decided to marry but Raj’s life suddenly take a turn when his mother recieves a

proposal for his marriage for the hand of his boss’s daughter. Shanti’s tears merged in the sounds of Raj’s wedding. He did not accept Shanti even after he found out that she was going to be the mother of his child. Raj now became R. K. Gupta, the businessman. Shanti leaves the town and went for away to give birth to a baby boy, Vijay.

Vijay (Amitabh Bachhan) grows up as a mediocre, and after his mother’s death, he comes to the city where his father, the business-tycoon, R.K. Gupta lived. The story takes a lot of beautiful turns desribing the cold war between Raj and Vijay.

*The Cast

Sanjeev Kumar:-** Sanjeev kumar in the role of RK Gupta suits in both the part as a young lover Raj and as a matured Business Man R.K. Gupta

Waheeda Rehman :-

Shanti, Mother of Vijay and a lover of Raj having a short presence in the film. she has done the job very well.

Amitabh Bachchan:-

In the role of Vijay , Amitabh is at his best, he carries the perfect image of Angry Young man. his eyes speaks a lot and the body language is also remarkeble in the film. I would highly recommand this film for the people who are not Amitabh Bachchan’s fan to see him what he is at his best.

*Rakhi:-

*AS a Geeta, A loyal secretary of R. K . gupta who dramatically turns to be a right hand of Vijay later in the film. Rakhi seems very natural and convincing in her role.

*Sashi Kapoor:-

*Playes the Role of R.K.Gupta’s elder son Shekhar, acted in typical shashi kapoor’s style as a son of a rich man a bit romantic guy. who is in love with Hema Malini. I love the way he says ... " apke mere khayalaay kitne milte julte hain ....."

*Hema Malini:-

*As a sheetal, Hema Malini looks very refreshing as a lover of Shekhar.

Prem Chopra:-

As a Balwant Rai, Rival Business man of RK Gupta who loves to take advantage of the cold war between Raj and Vijay, was ok.

others :-

Poonam dhillon as a younger daughter of RK Gupta, kusum and Sachin as a Ravi and lover of Kusum were in short roles but important characters to support the story.

MUSIC:-

The music given by Khayyam and lyrics written by Sahir Ludhyanvi. the songs are melodius and enjoyable. The following songs are still enjoyable, Jo ho yaar Apna :- The song is full of masti picturised on Shahi and Hema., Mohabbat bade kaam ki cheez hai :- this is one of my favourite one ....., Apki mehki huee Zulfon ko , This song has beautiful poetry. ...Jaaneman tum kamaal karti ho :- one more song with full of masti. Gapoochi gapoochi gum gum is a lovely song too .

Trishul is completely a Masala film full of Lovely twists and turns stuffed with romantic songs and heavy cast. Yash chopra is a master in potrying relationship and he has done the job beautifully. The film is very much predictable but the presence of Amitabh and his dialogue delivery keep you stick with the seat to see the film.
