Hello everyone. I hope that I have been conspicuous because of my absence. This evening I got back from a month long trip to India. The airlines I travelled on was TK and hence this review.
The reason I went for TK instead of other better airlines was because of the cheap fare they were offering for a specific period on the german-indian route. The fare for the round trip came to approx. 550 Euros (27, 000 Rs) which is not so expensive given that the flight was directly from Stuttgart till Delhi. If one is paying this kind of money to trvale half the distance of the world and back then ofcourse one should not expect superb services.
Exactly so. The food was eatable, better than Aeroflot but nowhere near to Emirates. There was one TV infront of the plane which everyone was supposed to somehow keep track of. In Emirates you have a TV/Audio/Games on yourt seat at not a very high price. the problem with Emirates is that it does not fly from every tom-and-dick type of city in germany which TK does owing to the huge turkish population in germany.
The silver lining in the whole trip was the Istanbul airport, where I was supposed to switch flights. Its a beautiful airport, bigger than the one at Dubai with all the frills and fancies. You come across a lot of indians there since its a big junction.
The cabin crew is not as good as in quality airlines. They even have difficulty understanding english. However the good thing is they know this fact and are hence very humble. The quality of the airplanes is quite abysmal. I remmember that when I was on my way from Istanbul to N.Delhi, a fluorescent light support came off threateningly while landing. Even today on my way back there were some overhead cupboards that had broken doors.
All said and done am glad that I made it back safely. If one is planning to take TK from India then do remmember that they fly only from Delhi in India. Its a little painful. All said and done I would round up the review with the following suggestions.
TK is good if you are going somewhere within europe. Its cheap at times, not always. So be on the lookout for rebates and schemes. Its speciually good if you are flying to germany for you will get a direct flught to every village here and I dont mean this literally.
If you have an airline like Emirates avaliable then go for it. It might be some 50-100 $ more expensive but its worht it. It flies from many more destinations in India and has quality service.
TK is better than Aeroflot., hence never go in for the latter.
I should mention that you might face some problem in re-confirming your tickets from India. I did. The staff in TK office at Delhi work on alternate days at strange hours. This number might be helpful: 011-5152079(1-4). They have the office at CP, so that you could also go there.
