As the guy before me has mentioned, we need to take a closer look into our bike when we are taking it from the showroom & pray that it be Defect Free. For things like Scratches are sometimes inevitable & the best we could do is ask for a change !!
All in all, the Bike is near-impeccable & powerful.
I bought my Apache 160 Hyper Edge, this early November at an On-road price of 75, 800/-. I ride it for around 70kms on weekdays . The route is a mix of hectic Traffic & free ways. From this ride, I am writing my conclusions.
Initially, I too was in dilemma whether to go for an Apache or Pulsar/CBZ/FZ. But then I boiled down to Apache for
I came across lots of reviews & many were good, some were bad & few were worst too !
Some major concerns were - Vibrations after 60, Less mileage , Service problem, slippery tyres, improper brakes.
Here are my Observations :
Vs Pulsar : It lacks in Displays. 1. The Display panel of Pulsar is totally LCD but in Apache, the Tachometer is Analog.
- All the symbols on Control buttons like Horn, Indicators etc are lit with lights in Pulsar but not in Apache. So this adds to the look of Pulsar. I guess, this this a kind of Trade-off for the extra 10 cc we get in Apache !
Luckily, till now, I havent faced any of those except for Skidding at times during Rain. I do not know if its the TVS tyres only or All tyres in general. Some suggest MRF Tires. Need to check this.
Since yday, the Speedometer reading is varying a lot, seems to be faulty. So need to get it inspected.
To be frank, the max speed I have reached is 71kmph, when the bikes ODO reading was 1024kms. Even at this speed, the Bike is very Smooth & without any vibrations. Upto 700 kms, i.e till the first service, the max speed I rode was 42kmph. Before first service the mileage I got was 45-46kmpl. Now, the ODO reading is 1771kms & I get 49-51kmpl.
After the first service, there was a slightly harsh noise from the Front Brakes & I was horrified when it dint even work like Drum Brake. Then the Service agent told its because the Pads were removed to clean & it should be okay in a day or two & he was right.
When you hold the Handle, u actually feel the power & weight in your hands & the Zeal shoots higher. The bike is sturdy & powerful in highways. Its easy to Manoeuvre & handy in Traffic.
Personally, The more I ride, I always feel I need to ride it for a little longer. In other way, everything - the design & the Engine, actually am in Love with the Engine sound that erupts out of the silencer, makes u yearn for some more Ride. Removed the Mirrors two days back & now I feel, its the Real Apache I had rode while test-driving
The Dealer gave me some complimentary accessories :
= Teflon coating @ 300 Bucks
Some dealers said, all these would cost extra 2k !!
I got mine from Bridgestone Motors, Dr. Rajmumar Road off Prakash Nagar, bangalore.
