I own Yamaha-RX135G 1998 Model which I love a lot for its power & quick throttle. At some stage got problem in procuring the original parts so faced lot of problem therefore search of new bike started despite having a four wheeler. I love the feel of a free mind when riding a bike.
Test Ride:
FZ16S-Limited Edition: Although the bike looks stunning in military green color. I test drive it & found to be the most stable & comfortable riding style. The rear wide tyre really makes the drive wonderful but I found the punch missing as compare to my Yamaha. While overtaking, I found that it lacks power. So closed this chapter. The cost was 85K on road.
Honda CB Trigger: Tested it, & found to be the most silent bike.you wont feel that its ON at signals. The bike was superb but when I closely watched it & found the little rusting signs n cheap quality plastic used in the bike. Moreover the service station guys are not keen for the test drive & says bike is good n buy it soon. The cost was 79K on road price.
TVS RTR-160: Tested it & when I heard the sound I really found it solid like my Yamaha. The build quality, plastic used, & overall the bike looks good. I drive & found that its very quick n fast as compare to earlier test drive bikes. The showroom people are also warm. I went again for the test drive & happy to see them welcome my request. The cost was 79K on road NCR.
Finally, on Nov-1-2013, gone to showroom to buy the bike. I requested them to let me test drive the RTR-180 just for feel the power. When the ignitioin is ON the sound of the bike was really awesome.& the sitting posture was little on aggressive side i.e. incline which others may find uncomfortable but I personally like the posture. After putting gears the bike really moves swiftly & overtaking was breeze due to its power.
After test drive, I booked the RTR-180 White color since they dont have the grey color in stock. Bought the bike on same day, the on road price was 85K NCR, got the helmet free which is not so good quality.
Instructions given:
Ride the bike below 40 km for first 500 KM. Ride with varying the speed smoothly & avoid sudden throttle. Dont ride the bike in same same speed constantly instead vary the speed.
Experience after 600KM:
Lookwise the bike doesnt feel heavy but when you put it on stand then you will feel the weight of the bike. But when you ride it it is so balanced that you wont feel the weight at all.
When you sit on the bike, there you could feel the solid & sturdy feel of the bike.
The main headlight has daylight light which opens when you put on the ignition irrespective of day & nite.
Driving the bike below 50 to have the engine breakin process properly. The bike feels planted when I ride it on low speed.
The average I am getting is around 44KM/P.Ltr currently after first service. Since I am riding below 50 therefore I thought the average is justified.
Now, I am used to the incline riding position.
The bike has engine kill switch, pass switch, impressive light during night.
8 The bike has disc brakes on both wheels & works perfectly fine therefore not feel the ABS missing.
- Heard that the tyres are very prone to skid in rainy season which I would see it during the monsoon.
Overall, I would say the bike is good in feel & ride.
The purpose of the bike is to take it to the Himalayas in Spiti, Leh region & few weekend getaways.since I feel bore while driving my four wheeler during long drives.
Hope this will help us other who are looking & deciding to buy a new bike.
Let me know if you need any info.
Thanks
Rakesh
