Centra disappoints!!!

This bike was purchased after a great deal of survey and research. To tell you the truth, I am not at all disappointed. I have been riding the bike for the last one week and the fact is it is a pleasure to ride this wonderful bike. I think this is the best 100cc vehicle to hit the market right now, what with its attractive features and reasonably good power compared to its competitors in this segment.

TVS Motors have most importantly not compromised on the style of the bike for improved mileage, like what Bajaj has done with its Caliber. The muscular red stripes on the sides of the bulging tank is a revelation in its looks. It is very easy to maneouvre the way in high traffic. The gear mechanism has changed from the four down in the front to four down in the back like the other leader in the segment Splendor.

Regarding the feel good factor with the new VT-i engine, it facilitates very smooth and easy riding, though the advantages of it I really haven’t experienced as of now. I feel that the front portion of the bike resembles TVS Fiero while the rear portion (body) resembles the popular TVS Victor.

The mileage has already given me 60 km and I still haven’t got it in reserve for 1 litre. With city traffic, if a bike is able to give a mileage of around 75-80, that should be a good work done and Centra is well on its way in doing that. So, TVS Centra with its revolutionary new VT-i engine coupled with its exciting looks should be a bike to watch out for in the days to come. This bike is certainly the bike for the masses.........

Updates

1.) Hey guys, I had put in two litres of petrol. It has not come to reserve still and has already given me 170 kms which means that it has given me 85 km/l which I think is absolutely fabulous. Maybe its going to give 90km/l.........Lets wait and watch!!!

2.) After the first service, centra gives a mileage of 65-70kmph.

So, if you are going for a purely mileage concerned bike, this is certainly not the one, since the other bikes like victor, splendor also give the same margin........

Update on 5th June, 2005

  1. My bike around a good one and a half years old has a mileage that is decreasing proportionately with time. The initial pick-up highly disappoints. Its not very comfortable when you are riding at more than 60 kmph.
