Hi guys,
I had a write-up on Fiero FX about 1 year back when I bought it new. I gave it a very favorable rating. Now, after a year, I think I have some wiser comments.
I was always a fan of Hero-Honda vehicles, their finishing touches are matchless. It didnt take me more than a couple of months to realize my big blunder - I should have waited to get a Unicorn, or a Pulsar at least.
For the gazillion and seventh time, today morning I was pressing hard the gear lever at 60km for that imaginary 5th gear! Man I cant believe which brain damaged engineer at TVS decided to have only 4 gears for such a monster of the bike. Recently I was riding my Fiero and .. in 5th gear, only to realize it was a dream afterall.
OK, 5th gear aside, as I had commented earlier the bike is not much manevorable. I believe the centre of gravity is somewhat higher than other bikes (like splendor) and this can cause stability problems. I slipped and fell down twice taking sharp turns but luckily escaped without injuries.
A big issue I had recently (2 months ago) was with the engine - where the pick up dropped drastically because of problem with the fuel valve I believe. I would go on for some distance and suddenly the bike would behave as if it is started after a month - you know if you start your bike after not using it for a long time it would take some time to warm up. Because of this I had to go for a service and lost all my free services much before 1 year.
So my suggestion to all prospecitve buyers of FX would be simple - think again. There are plenty of other better options.
